Dear Salem Central School Parents,

I am writing with news about an upcoming transition in the Salem Central School District leadership team. On Monday, October 29th, Mrs. Sharon Varney announced to the Board of Education and myself her intent to resign as PreK-6 Principal. This change will take place November 28, 2018.

Please join me in thanking Mrs. Varney for her work to make Salem Elementary a great place for learning during her time with the district. She provided guidance and support to both students and staff and we appreciate her efforts to enhance our school. We wish her the best and will miss her leadership.

While we conduct a search for a new Elementary principal, the Board of Education will be appointing an interim principal. Our plans to find an interim Elementary principal will start immediately and will be announced as soon as they are solidified. We will advertise for the permanent principal position on the Online Application System for Educators (OLAS). Our goal is to appoint a new Elementary principal who will start at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.

I am confident the Elementary team will move forward and continue to work toward the success of each and every child at our school. We have an incredible, supportive team who will make this transition as smooth as possible for the students in our care.

If you have any questions, please contact me at the District Office at (518) 854 -7855.
