Meet the Principal
Hello Parent/Guardians of Salem Elementary School,
I am honored to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and share my overall excitement in joining the Salem community! I have been welcomed by scholars, families and staff from the beginning and I feel truly blessed to be able to begin the school year in Salem. This summer has quickly come to an end, but I have had the opportunity to meet many scholars and staff at Lunch, Learn and Play, parent meetings to support the overall success of scholars and the Salem PTA/SEPTA. It is sure to be an exciting school year!
I grew up in Troy, NY, but attended Brittonkill Central School District, Tamarac, for middle and high school. I am one of six children to the best mother, lovingly known as Grandma Doris, who continues to be my biggest inspiration. I have two loving, beautiful, and hilarious little girls, Sydney and Sadie. I can’t forget my third daughter, Ginger Big Bird Pleat, who is our dog. I am looking forward to you meeting all of them at school functions throughout the school year! I am a graduate of the College of St. Rose for Childhood Education grades 1-6 and School Building Leadership and hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education/Inclusion from SUNY Albany. I started my career in education as a YMCA afterschool counselor in the Albany City School District in 2003.
With over 12 years in education, my overall experiences have helped to develop me into the school leader that I am today. With strong leadership skills, open communication and a laser sharp focus on the success of our scholars through collaboration and team work the limits are endless for our school district. This is the important work that is set before us and together we will accomplish great things for our scholars!
Here is to a great 2016-2017 school year! Please feel free to reach out to me at (518) 854-9505 or firstname.lastname@example.org . I look forward to meeting you soon and working alongside the Salem community!
